Killing Joke: A Critic at Large
A spectacularly written article, by David Denby at the New Yorker, covering the Cohen Brothers' body of work, but focusing on what he feels went wrong in their telling of No Country for Old Men. I disagree with his take on the movie, finding it to require more searching than he seems willing to put into the movie. Specifically, I loved that the death scene which he craves, was entirely non-existent. That vacancy gives the me a feeling of pointlessness that sums up the whole story better than any synopsis.
